BYD Seagull Achieves Triple 'A' Ratings in Micro Electric Car Assessment

The China Automotive Technology and Research Center recently released the results of a specialized assessment for micro electric vehicles, revealing that the BYD Seagull earned top marks with an 'A' rating across three critical testing categories: usage safety, endurance charging, and crash safety. It stands as the first vehicle to achieve a triple 'A' score in this particular assessment, marking a significant milestone for electric cars (EVs).

Conducted by the authoritative China Automotive Technology and Research Center's Vehicle Assessment Management Center, which is recognized by Global NCAP, the evaluation employed the frameworks of C-NCAP and CCRT to rigorously test and rate micro electric vehicles. The primary focus areas of these tests included usage safety, endurance charging, and crash safety. The Seagull excelled in each category, scoring 91.8% in usage safety, 90.3% in endurance charging, and an impressive 94.5% in crash safety, earning it an 'A' rating all around.

In terms of safety features that car buyers prioritize, the Seagull demonstrated outstanding performance in the usage safety assessments. It secured a perfect 100% score in crucial areas such as charging safety, electromagnetic interference, and water immersion safety. Its performance in crash safety was equally commendable, achieving scores of 78.79% for frontal collisions, 100% for side collisions, and 87.10% for whiplash tests. When addressing user concerns related to endurance and charging—often pain points for electric car owners—the Seagull further proved its prowess with top-notch scores in the endurance charging category: 98.8% for normal temperature range endurance, and a full 100% for both low-temperature charging and charging compatibility, easily securing its 'A' rating.

The Seagull's achievements are underpinned by BYD's advanced e-platform 3.0, which incorporates a high-strength body structure designed specifically for pure electric vehicles. It features BYD's proprietary Blade Battery and comes standard with enhanced safety features, including four airbags and an electronic vehicle stability system.
