Uzbekistan’s demand for new energy vehicles is mainly reflected in the following aspects:

Policy Support

The Uzbek government has introduced a number of policies to support the development of new energy vehicles. These policies include canceling import tariffs and technology import tariffs on domestic new energy vehicles, waiving scrap recycling fees, allowing investors to import 10,000 assembled or complete vehicles duty-free within two years, and allocating subsidy funds from the fiscal budget to purchase domestically produced new energy vehicles. Loan subsidies are provided for new energy vehicles. In addition, the government also plans to gradually eliminate import tariffs on new energy electric vehicles by 2030, and promote local production and consumption by increasing subsidies and providing preferential loans.

Market demand

As the largest economy and populous country in Central Asia, Uzbekistan has a population of nearly 34 million, with more than 50% of the urban population. It also leads the Central Asia region in terms of car ownership. This large population base and high car ownership rate provide huge potential and demand for the new energy vehicle market. According to data, Uzbekistan’s imports of electric vehicles have increased significantly in recent years. About 100 electric vehicle charging stations will be put into operation in 2022 alone, and the market is expected to usher in rapid growth245.

consumer demand

As consumers become more concerned about environmental protection and sustainable transportation methods, the demand for new energy vehicles is also rising. This rise in demand has created a strong demand base for the market and inspired companies to continue their efforts in product innovation and performance improvement.

infrastructure

In order to support the use of new energy vehicles, the Uzbek government plans to build large-scale electric vehicle charging stations starting from December 1, 2023, and plans to increase the number of charging stations to 2,500 by 2025. In addition, starting from January 1, 2024, new commercial centers, entertainment centers, gas stations, hotels, etc. along international roads and national highways in Uzbekistan must be equipped with car charging piles, otherwise the government will not approve the construction. These measures aim to build a comprehensive charging infrastructure and provide consumers with more convenient and flexible charging options.

Industrial Development

Uzbekistan's new energy electric vehicle and charging pile industry presents multi-level segmentation, providing the market with a variety of choices. In terms of electric vehicles, the market covers various types, including cars, SUVs, trucks, etc. Competition among various models is fierce. Different manufacturers compete in different market segments in detail, promoting continuous innovation in the entire industry. The charging pile industry also shows obvious segmentation characteristics, including public charging stations, home charging piles and commercial charging piles. This diversified charging facilities build a comprehensive charging infrastructure and provide consumers with more convenient and flexible charging options.

Uzbekistan's demand for new energy vehicles is mainly affected by factors such as policy support, market demand, consumer demand, infrastructure construction and industrial development. Driven by these factors, Uzbekistan's new energy vehicle market is expected to maintain a rapid growth trend.
