As the competition in the second half of the intelligent automobile era intensifies, XPeng Motors is seizing the moment by continually investing in the "smart" race lane, marking the best competitive era for developers of electric vehicles (EV). Recently, XPeng held an AI intelligent driving technology conference to announce the global rollout of the AI "Tianji" system XOS 5.2.0 version. With this update, the XPeng XNGP system achieves nationwide coverage, offering intelligent driving that is not restricted by city, route, or road conditions.
Amidst an industry where most intelligent driving technologies are still in limited-area testing phases and Tesla's FSD (Full Self-Driving) system is expected to enter the Chinese market by the end of the year, XPeng's XNGP upgrade is highly significant. As one of only two companies globally to implement large-scale models end-to-end in production vehicles, XPeng’s XNGP stands as a formidable competitor to Tesla's FSD in the realm of advanced vehicle intelligent driving technology.
This high-level competence is set to be a pivotal driver in boosting XPeng's sales and stock market performance. As advanced intelligent driving systems become increasingly central to consumer car buying decisions—ranked fifth in 2023 after comfort, handling, appearance, and quality—the strides XPeng has made with XNGP underscore its commitment to a long-term strategy in the smart vehicle sector, potentially entering a period of substantial gains.
He Xiaopeng, CEO of XPeng, notes that after this significant update, the XNGP system progresses from being usable "across the nation" to being user-friendly nationwide, with three major standards: unrestricted by city, route, or road conditions. For the "unrestricted by city" category, XNGP has undergone comprehensive verification not just in major urban centers with high intelligent driving demand but also across county-level cities, covering over 7.56 million kilometers in testing. For "unrestricted by route," XNGP can seamlessly navigate any navigable location, including integrating ETC toll stations, parking gates, and internal roads of various sites by the fourth quarter, achieving a true "door-to-door" experience. In terms of "unrestricted by road conditions," XPeng XNGP currently handles complex scenarios such as U-turns and roundabouts. According to the roadmap, the second phase of "user-friendly nationwide" will launch in the fourth quarter, with further enhancements aiming for a "beloved" status by 2025-2026.
Notably, as the first in the industry to apply AI technology in both its intelligent cabin and driving system, the launch of the AI "Tianji" system XOS 5.2.0 marks an epic upgrade for XPeng. The system introduces new features such as Apple ecosystem connectivity, remote voice control, and gesture-based car control.
Despite the intense competition in the domestic automobile market, driven by the pursuit of innovation and smart technology, XPeng's AI "Tianji" system XOS 5.2.0 has clearly set a challenging benchmark for car manufacturers. This advancement ensures XPeng a prominent lead in the electric vehicle marathon.
