In the fiercely competitive electric vehicle market, weekly sales rankings garner significant attention. For the third week of February 2025 (February 17 - February 23, Week 8), the sales data for Chinese new energy car brands and emerging forces have been released, providing insights into the market’s latest dynamics and competitive landscape.


Let's first examine the sales rankings of new energy car brands. BYD leads the pack with an impressive 59,100 units sold, firmly holding the top position. BYD’s success can be attributed to its extensive product line, covering entry-level to high-end segments, pricing between 69,800 to 309,800 yuan, meeting diverse consumer demands. Both its pure electric vehicles (EV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) have captured the market with advanced technology and a strong reputation.


Wuling follows closely with 16,100 units sold, where its affordable pricing range of 32,800 to 169,800 yuan secures its crucial position in the small electric car market. Geely, securing the third spot with 11,000 units sold, continuously innovates its new energy vehicles, appealing to numerous buyers with high cost-effectiveness and solid brand influence.

XPeng, Li Auto, Tesla, Xiaomi, Aion, Galaxy, and Leapmotor also feature in the top ten sales for new energy brands, ranking fourth to tenth respectively. XPeng, with 8,800 units sold, shows strong growth among new force brands, thanks to its advanced technology. Li Auto, with 7,700 units sold, targets the family luxury SUV segment with precision, maintaining stable sales. Although Tesla faces fierce competition in China, its brand influence and technical prowess still secure a sixth-place with 7,000 units sold. Xiaomi and Aion both sold 6,400 units, rapidly establishing Xiaomi's presence in the electric vehicle market through its tech background and innovation, while Aion’s diverse product offerings and good value attract consumers. Galaxy and Leapmotor sold 6,300 and 5,500 units respectively, both continually enhancing product competitiveness to expand market shares.


Focusing on sales for emerging force brands, XPeng claims the crown with 8,800 units sold, thanks to its consistent investment in intelligent driving and electric technology, endowing its products with high technical content and competitiveness. Li Auto follows closely with 7,700 units sold, as its range-extended electric technology alleviates consumer range anxiety, earning market favor. Ranking third, Xiaomi sold 6,400 units, showcasing formidable potential as a new entrant. Leapmotor, with 5,500 units sold, secures its position among new forces with a strategy focused on high value for money.


Brands like Avatr, Zeekr, IM Motors, Deep Blue, NIO, and Denza also make it to the top ten for emerging forces sales. These brands are increasing R&D investments and launching more competitive products. For instance, Avatr leverages Huawei’s technological support for unique advantages in smart cabins and driving; Zeekr's high-end, personalized product positioning draws consumers in.
