Rationally Discussing the Advantages and Disadvantages of the Xiaomi SU7

Views: 0     Author: Li     Publish Time: 2024-12-18      Origin: Site

Advantages:

The first notable advantage of the Xiaomi SU7 is its stunning aesthetics and perfect streamlined design. Many of my friends agree with me that the SU7 is visually appealing. From the front to the rear, and especially the sleek side profile, the electric vehicle (EV) boasts an appearance that is both refined and high-end, reminiscent of luxury sports cars. The rear spoiler, which can be raised and lowered, acts as an emblem for youth culture, stirring emotions akin to what top electric automobiles offer.

Another significant advantage of the Xiaomi SU7 electric car is its high-level configuration. During the launch, it was evident that Xiaomi drew inspiration from the best features of various domestic and international electric vehicles. With mature hardware supply chains and Xiaomi's strength as an internet-driven company, their EV is exceptionally well-equipped. As stated by CEO Lei, even the standard version could match others' top-tier models. Let's highlight a few key specifications:

Electric Motor and Performance:The Xiaomi SU7 features a collaboratively developed V6/V6S super motor with United Microelectronics and Huichuan, delivering 374 horsepower, 21,000 RPM, and a peak torque of 838 Nm, reaching a total power of 495 kW. The Xiaomi SU7 Max can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.78 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 10.67 seconds, with a top speed of 356 km/h. Being a pure electric car, the single motor version offers 299 horsepower and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, highlighting robust power. The dual motor version, an even more potent battery car, offers up to 673 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.78 seconds, featuring a battery capacity of 101 kWh and an impressive CLTC range of 800 kilometers.

Aerodynamics and Battery:The Xiaomi SU7 achieves an impressive drag coefficient of 0.195 Cd, a record low for mass-produced new energy cars. The battery from CATL features an 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform with a maximum voltage reaching 871V. It uses CTB integrated battery technology with a comprehensive safety suite, including adherence to the world's strictest thermal failure safety standards, 17 layers of high-voltage insulation, and a cooling area of 7.8 m².

Range and Charging:The standard version offers a range of 668 km, while the dual motor Max version provides 800 km. Fast charging with the Max version's 800V system allows 220 km of range with just 5 minutes of charging and 510 km with a 15-minute charge. The standard version, equipped with BYD's blade battery, supports a range of 700 km and features a plethora of sensors, including one millimeter-wave radar, twelve ultrasonic radars, and eleven cameras, supporting L2 autonomous driving, with an 8295 chip overseeing car machine operations.

Disadvantages:

Warranty Concerns:The first drawback is the five-year warranty. As a premiere offering from an automobile maker, Xiaomi's SU7 comes with a five-year or 100,000-kilometer warranty. This poses a significant risk, especially when competitors like BYD offer lifetime warranties for the original owner, and Zeekr provides a six-year or 150,000-kilometer warranty with lifetime coverage for three electrical systems and free lifetime data.

Voltage Limitations:Another downside is the 400V system used in mid-range versions, which is considered outdated as the industry shifts toward 800V systems by 2024. For those unfamiliar with the difference, the main distinction between a 400V and an 800V system in an electric vehicle is in the battery voltage, affecting charging speed, range, motor and electric control design, and overall cost. While 800V systems typically cost more, these expenses are expected to decrease over time with advancing technology.
