However, if that vehicle's prototype posted lap times under 7 minutes at the Nürburgring, performance enthusiasts would likely become intrigued. Then, if you learn that this car is from Xiaomi, it’s quite understandable to feel a bit astonished. Here are the core insights:

The Price of Xiaomi SU7 Ultra Is Justified by Its Speed

In a more focused sense, the key reasons a car is expensive boil down to three aspects: luxury brands like Rolls-Royce and Bentley are costly due to their “luxury”; rugged off-roaders like the Mercedes G-Class demand a premium for their “toughness”; and supercars such as Lamborghini and Ferrari are considered expensive due to their “speed.” Clearly, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra falls into the latter category. Before its launch, it was already hailed as a record-breaking powerhouse across various track events. The incredible speed of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is primarily thanks to its advanced tri-motor system—featuring two V8 electric motors and one V6 electric motor—delivering a combined maximum power of 1548 horsepower. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.98 seconds, and reach 0 to 200 km/h in a mere 5.86 seconds, with a designed top speed of 350 km/h. Additionally, it uses a track-specific high-performance battery pack that boasts a maximum discharge rate of 16C and a peak discharge power of 1330 kW (1808 horsepower), meaning it can deplete its entire battery in only 3 minutes and 45 seconds. For a vehicle of this caliber, such battery discharge performance is more than sufficient. This combination of a tri-motor system and a high-performance battery enables the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, with a curb weight of 2360 kg, to perform impressively well despite its substantial mass.

However, Xiaomi ensures that the SU7 Ultra remains grounded, implementing innovative body control systems. The tri-motor system allows for torque vectoring, dynamically distributing torque at a frequency of 500 times per second. In cornering situations, more torque is allocated to the outer wheels, akin to a tank’s turning mechanism, allowing for a more responsive steering feedback that greatly enhances handling.

Performance Kits Are All Included

While the powerful tri-motor system provides significant performance, essential components like aerodynamic kits, high-performance brakes, and suspensions are also crucial. These features not only enhance driving dynamics but also solidify the car’s presence as a high-performance vehicle. Specifically, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra comes fitted with 17 carbon-fiber components, reducing weight with a carbon-fiber roof covering an impressive area of 1.7 m², resulting in a weight savings of 12 kg. The front of the car is adorned with a large splitter and air dam, effectively increasing downforce at the front end. The enlarged air intake grill boosts the radiator area by 10%, which, alongside a comprehensive upgrade to the cooling system—including the compressor, water pump, cooling fan, and radiator—enables a cooling capacity of up to 2.7 million joules per minute, officially claiming to be three times more effective than ordinary electric vehicles.

The new model also features an active rear diffuser designed to accelerate airflow from the rear, enhancing stability at high speeds. This diffuser is adjustable between two adaptive modes, balancing drag coefficient and downforce. Additionally, a fixed carbon-fiber rear spoiler provides over 400 kg of downforce when traveling at 350 km/h. Xiaomi has also detailed essential standard and optional features across the range, including a 24K gold carbon-fiber badge, 5 m² Alcantara fabric, and 21-inch forged wheels, along with carbon-fiber double air-duct hoods.

According to previous specifications, optional equipment will include side markers, roof installations, fixed big spoilers, decorative enhancements, and more. Moreover, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is equipped with high-performance braking systems that utilize racing-grade carbon-ceramic brake discs, with the front brake discs measuring 430 mm in diameter, ensuring greater resistance to high temperatures, wear, and overall lightness, contributing to a 57 kg weight reduction. The vehicle also encompasses Akebono high-performance calipers with a six-piston front and four-piston rear design, along with top-tier ENDLESS brake pads.
