Electric Vehicle Giants Poach Xiaomi Yu7 Orders: $700 Rebates Offered!

The explosive demand for Xiaomi's newly launched Yu7 electric vehicle has created an unexpected opportunity for rival car makers. With delivery estimates stretching up to 60 weeks, major players like NIO, Avatr, and Zeekr are actively courting frustrated Xiaomi customers with tempting cash rebates to switch brands.

Automakers Deploy Aggressive Poaching Tactics
Capitalizing on the long wait times, several leading new energy car manufacturers have unveiled targeted "order poaching" campaigns. NIO, Avatr, and Zeekr now offer compensation covering the Xiaomi Yu7's non-refundable deposit for customers who cancel their Yu7 reservation and purchase one of their models instead. NIO and Avatr apply the compensation directly against the final car price, while Zeekr offers equivalent value in brand loyalty points.

Specifically for the Xiaomi Yu7's 5,000 yuan (approx. $700) deposit:

  • Purchasing any NIO automobile qualifies for full reimbursement.

  • Choosing a Leapmotor model also secures the full $700 rebate, subject to store manager approval.

  • Opting for the NIO Firefly model nets a 2,000 yuan ($280) rebate.

Unprecedented Demand Strains Xiaomi Yu7 Production
The scale of the challenge is clear. Since its June 26th launch, the Xiaomi Yu7 shattered expectations. Official figures reveal a staggering 289,000 orders secured within just 18 hours. Lei Jun, Xiaomi's Founder and CEO, acknowledged orders vastly exceeded projections and confirmed they won't be disclosing 24-hour sales figures. Current delivery estimates are daunting:

  • Yu7 Standard: 57-60 weeks

  • Yu7 Pro: 50-53 weeks

  • Yu7 Max (fastest): 37-40 weeks

While Xiaomi Car stated these are estimates subject to change based on production ramp-up efficiency, the extended timelines have fueled significant consumer impatience and created a fertile ground for competitors.

Gray Market for Orders Emerges Amidst Scarcity
The overwhelming demand and lengthy waits have inadvertently spawned a gray market for Yu7 reservations. Platforms like Xianyu are flooded with listings where sellers offer their spot in the delivery queue, with premiums reportedly reaching up to 20,000 yuan ($2,800).

Xiaomi has implemented strict rules to combat scalping: limiting orders, allowing configuration changes within 168 hours (7 days) of deposit payment, and automatically locking orders thereafter. Once locked, configurations, ownership details, and delivery locations are final, and the deposit becomes non-refundable.

The Electric Vehicle Battle Heats Up
The intense competition sparked by the Xiaomi Yu7's success highlights the fierce battle for dominance in the new energy car market. Rival automakers are seizing the moment, leveraging Xiaomi's production bottleneck to attract customers with immediate incentives. As consumers weigh the allure of a hot new battery car like the Yu7 against the practicality of faster delivery and substantial savings from established brands like Leapmotor, the coming months will reveal whose strategy proves most effective in this high-stakes electric vehicle arena.
