Battle of the Electric Giants: 11 Highly-Anticipated Models from NIO, XPeng, Li Auto, Xiaomi, and Huawei

The competition in China’s electric vehicle market is fiercer than ever. With new energy car manufacturers continuously unveiling cutting-edge models, consumers are faced with more options than before. Among them, “Wei Xiao Li Mi Hua” — NIO, XPeng, Li Auto, Xiaomi, and Huawei — have become the main players shaping the sector. Each brand is bringing its latest battery car technology and smart features to the table. So, which of these new automobiles will come out on top in 2025?

XPeng’s Strong Start and New Lineup

XPeng has kicked off the year with impressive momentum. In fact, the automaker outperformed Li Auto in both the first week and the first full month of this year, making it the weekly and monthly sales champion among emerging electric vehicle makers.

The successful launches of the XPeng MONA M03 and the P7+ have played a significant role in this turnaround, helping the brand rebound strongly and reach new heights. These models are not just another new energy car — they represent XPeng's renewed focus on design and technology.

Not one to slow down, XPeng started the new year with aggressive promotions. On the first working day, it introduced zero-down-payment and interest-free policies for four of its established models: the G6, G9, X9, and P7i. This kind of strategic move is designed to keep the momentum going while new cars are in the pipeline.

Forthcoming Models: What’s Next from XPeng?

During the Q3 2024 earnings call, CEO He Xiaopeng confirmed that XPeng will launch four all-new models next year along with several facelifts. Spotted already in regulatory filings, the upgraded G6, G9, and X9 are among the refreshed battery cars we can expect.

As for new vehicles, the G7 — which has already had its exterior unveiled — is one of the most anticipated new energy cars of the year. It shares design language with the P7+, and in my opinion, it completely outperforms the G6 in terms of styling.

Another model, internally known as E29, has been frequently caught during road tests. It appears to be a new sedan that could further strengthen XPeng’s electric vehicle portfolio. Looking further ahead, the brand is also developing a “Land Aircraft Carrier” and a large SUV equipped with the Xpeng Kunpeng system — clearly, innovation remains at the heart of their strategy.

The Broader Competitive Landscape

It’s not just XPeng making noise. NIO is continuing to expand with its battery swap technology, Li Auto is popularizing extended-range electric vehicles, Xiaomi has officially entered the automobile scene with ambitious plans, and Huawei is deepening its smart car partnerships.

Each of these brands is trying to capture a larger share of the growing new energy car market. The introduction of more affordable, tech-savvy, and stylish models means that the battle for the 2025 electric vehicle sales crown is still wide open.

When it comes to choosing the next winning automobile, factors like pricing, energy efficiency, smart features, and charging infrastructure will all be critical. One thing is clear: the electric vehicle scene in China is evolving faster than ever, and customers are the real winners.
